Electric bass lessons in Madrid

I have been a professional bass player for more than four decades and teaching electric bass since 1985. After playing and recording with artists in Argentina and Spain, I teach in Madrid what I use every day on stage and in the studio: sounding good, playing in time and understanding what is going on in the music.

Who it is for

For complete beginners, for self-taught bassists who want to put their technique in order, and for musicians preparing recordings, gigs or auditions. Each lesson is tailored to the student's level and goals.

What we work on

  • Technique: fingerstyle, slap and tapping, with progressive exercises.
  • Groove and time: playing with a metronome and drum tracks, and locking in with a band.
  • Reading: standard notation and chord symbols.
  • Harmony for bass: scales, arpeggios and building bass lines.
  • Improvisation: walking bass and soloing.
  • Styles: funk, soul, blues, jazz, rock, fusion and tango.

Teaching experience

  • Instituto Tecnológico de Música Contemporánea (ITMC), Buenos Aires, 1990–2000.
  • Escuela de Música Contemporánea de Buenos Aires, a Berklee International Network school, 2000–2002.
  • Academia de Música Contemporánea de Madrid (AMC), 2008–2015.
  • Private lessons since 1985.

I am the author of the method book Estudios Progresivos de Técnica de Slap, Dedos y Tapping (Progressive Studies in Slap, Fingerstyle and Tapping Technique), which comes with a CD of separate bass, drum and guitar tracks and is used as course material.

How to start

Lessons are held in person in Madrid. Drop me a line telling me your level and what you would like to learn, and I will suggest a schedule and a study plan.
